A shared family photo challenge for an afternoon at home
Give everyone a role, keep the search simple and make time to explain the finds.

A family photo challenge does not need a winner. It can simply give you a reason to look at a familiar room together and notice how differently people describe the same object.
Start with a homemade round using a phone camera. If you use Seek, check the App Store age rating in your region first. An adult should supervise younger participants and handle the app where appropriate. Seek is not a child-account or parental-control system.
Give everyone something to do
Choose a spotter to suggest an object, a photographer to frame it and an explainer to say why it fits. In a smaller group, combine roles. Swap after each prompt so nobody spends the whole round waiting for their turn with the phone.
These roles are something you organise together; Seek does not keep a separate team score for each role.
Begin with three prompts
Try something round, something soft and something reflective. Keep finds in shared spaces and photograph objects where they are. You do not need to open cupboards, move furniture or collect everything in a pile.
For each prompt, ask for two possible answers before taking a picture. A spoon and a window might both lead to an interesting conversation about reflection.
Let the explanation matter
After the photos, choose one and ask what made it a good match. This keeps the activity about noticing rather than who can move around the house fastest.
If the group wants points, agree on simple homemade rules before starting. In Seek, the app judges matches and provides its own score, so keep any family vote separate.
Stop while it still feels fun
Three discoveries may be enough. If you use Seek and want a slower round, Explorer has no countdown. Custom At home hunts require Seek+; today’s Daily Seek is free.
Put the phone down afterwards and look at the favourite find together. The activity can be short and still give everyone something to remember.
Explore Seek for family challenges for ways to take this idea into the app.
