Start with the same challenge

Choose a familiar area and a meeting point. Keep the first round short enough that everyone can finish together. Open-ended prompts such as “something reflective” give players room to find different answers.

You can run a homemade round using a list and your own scoring, or create a group hunt inside Seek.

Playing together in Seek

Create a hunt and invite friends with the game’s join code. Players join on their iPhones, photograph finds in the app and earn points for accepted photos. Group hunts are part of Seek+ and support up to eight players.

A group also gives you a place to compare weekly scores. A live hunt and a group’s ongoing leaderboard are different parts of the experience.

Three ways to keep it friendly

Choose one person to explain the rules before the first round. Make the boundary small enough for everyone to stay comfortable, and allow people to opt out of time pressure.

• A warm-up round: use obvious colours and shapes.
• A rematch: play again and try to beat your own result.
• A photo reveal: share the story behind a favourite find.

Match the game to the occasion

For a walk, use landmarks along a route you already intended to take. At a gathering, stay within agreed rooms or the garden. In a new place, choose somewhere safe and accessible before starting.

If you are using our website generator, everyone can receive the same copied list. Scoring and judging that list are up to your group; it does not connect to the app’s leaderboards.
